Purposes and legal bases of data processing
The purpose of data processing on this website is to provide a platform for the performance of electronic data protection training courses.
To achieve this purpose, we process your data according to one or multiple of the following legal bases, depending on the functions used on this website:
- If you use this website, we process your data on the basis of the legitimate interest of the Datenschutzberatung Moers GmbH. These are in particular our commercial interest in the provision of this website, information security, the enforcement of our own legal claims and compliance with relevant legal provisions. We make sure to process the data only in such a way that your interests and fundamental rights and freedoms are not disproportionately impaired. The relevant legal basis for this is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR.
- If you are using the e-learning portal (https://el.datenschutzakademie.com) as a registered user, we process your data in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. b GDPR to the extent necessary for the fulfilment of the contract as well as for taking appropriate steps prior to entering the contract.
- When using our contact forms, we process your data based on your consent in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future.
- We process some of your data in order to fulfil legal obligations. This includes, for example, processing to enforce our terms of use and the storage of data on training participation for purposes of evidence. In this case, the processing is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c GDPR.
Data categories and duration of storage
When visiting this website, a connection is established with your browser. The following information is temporarily stored in system files and automatically collected: IP address of your device, date and time of access, name and URL of accessed files, website from which access is made or from which you were directed to our site (referrer URL), browser used and, if applicable, the operating system of your device and the name of your provider.
We process the mentioned data for the purpose of smooth connection establishment and system security. The resulting connection data will be automatically erased and is not retained for more than seven days. If the website is misused, log files, which need to be retained for evidence purposes, are saved until the incident is clarified.
If you use the e-learning portal (https://el.datenschutzakademie.com) as a registered user, further data will be processed depending on the functions used. This includes data of your user profile, usage data of the e-learning portal, training results or certificates of participation and messages sent via the portal. This data will be erased at the latest upon termination of the contractual relationship, i.e. after deletion of your user account and after expiry of the relevant statutory retention periods.
Use of cookies
Our website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and saved by your browser. They serve to make our website more user-friendly, effective and secure. Some of them are functional cookies, which are necessary to provide essential functions of the website. Without these, the website cannot be used as intended. Cookies that are stored when you visit this website are deleted at the end of your browser session.
When using the e-learning portal, two cookies are stored: The important ‘MoodleSession’ cookie allows you to access content after logging in and is deleted after logging out or at the end of the browser session. The ‘MoodleID’ cookie remains stored on your device if you select the ‘remember login name’ option on the login page and is only necessary for this function.
You can prevent the installation of cookies by selecting the proper settings on your browser. Please note that if you do this, you will not be able to use all the functions of this website.
User tracking with Matomo
We use the software Matomo for analysis and statistical evaluation of the website usage. This is a legitimate interest in the context of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. The generated data on the website usage is transferred to our servers and summarized in pseudonymous usage profiles. The data is processed to evaluate the usage of the website and enable us to adapt our website design accordingly. The data will not be transferred to third parties. Under no circumstances will the IP address be combined with other user-related data. The IP addresses anonymised, so that an assignment is not possible (IP-Masking).
Data transfer to third parties
To provide this website, we only use service providers that are contractually committed to confidentiality and data protection. Data will only be transferred public authorities in the event of compelling legal requirements. Data will not be transferred to third countries for processing purposes.

This site uses Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (https) for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as the requests you send us. The connection between your browser and our server is encrypted.
